John Kania is a managing director at FSG, a global nonprofit strategy consulting firm that helps organizations achieve social impact by applying research, strategy, and evaluation to better solve social problems. John has twenty years' experience advising senior management on issues of strategy, organization, and change management. At FSG, John leads strategic planning efforts for foundations, nonprofits, and corporate philanthropy, in issues ranging from international health, U.S. health care, U.S. education, the environment, community development and nonprofit capacity-building. He has helped develop the applications of FSG's strategy and problem-solving tools for the social sector.

Prior to joining FSG, John was a partner at both Mercer Management Consulting and Corporate Decisions, Inc. John has been published in Stanford Social Innovation Review, The Wall Street Journal, and The Journal of Business Strategy and is a featured author of Learning from the Future. He speaks frequently around the U.S. on improving the impact of philanthropy and corporate social responsibility.
